I grew up in
For me, hating Mr. Bird included never giving him an ounce of credit for being a good basketball player. As I grew up a little (very little) I realized I had missed enjoying one of the greatest players of all time. I regret not taking the time to enjoy Bird’s career.
I have to admit I have done the same thing with Peyton Manning. I have never given him credit for being a great quarterback because I really don’t like him, his college, his brother, his commercials, his long neck, his happy feet, his incessant audibles, his … you get the picture. Anyway, Peyton shut me up and won a big game tonight. I realize I need to quit hating him and learn to enjoy watching one of the all time greats. There is a small (I mean microscopically small) part of me that is happy for him. He is not a bad guy. He has worked hard and deserves to be in the Super Bowl.
Those of you who have talked football with me know that this post is nothing short of a miracle.
Go Bears.

That was very funny, Danny. I really enjoyed reading it. I think YOU should be writing for a newspaper. Love, your proud mom!
Yes, I agree! You are a gifted writer. I enjoy reading your posts very much, and this was a fun change of pace. Blessings to you and the "fam!"
Danny if you hang around me long enough you just might learn some class. . . just kidding. Great read.. . .and believe me I know how tough that was for you to admit!!!
After you left our house last night, I watched a little more of the game but realized the Pat's just didn't have the juice left in the tank to do it. Having the same feeling for Peyton I had to turn it off. Well, I couldn't sleep and the genius I am decided I was going to go check sports center to see if the Pats pulled out a win. Big mistake! After that, in my mind I was trying to justify why I don't like Peyton and how NOW I wasn't going to watch the Super Bowl. Yeah, like sleep was an option after that! What is really awesome about those times in the middle of the night where you can't sleep and everything is quiet around you the Holy Spirit has an opportunity to really speak to you. One thing I was conficted and reminded of was that we are all sinners saved by grace and who I am to hold this mans sins over his head. It is awesome that God used the Colts victory to teach us one more lesson and draw us closer to Him.
I guess after Peyton the next step will be learning to love the SEC, right? Hopefuly I won't lose any sleep over that one!

Peyton is still a goober.

Stop. Wait for a Super Bowl win. Last night's game has little or no significance if he gets beat by Gross Rexman.

Ya know, I had no idea that I was involved with a group of Peyton haters. It is a good thing I just found that out or I would have thought twice about associating with any of you. Now you are all going to have to work really hard at getting my respect back after this....I realize you were sucking it up after that win they had but, the fact that you couldn't see before that game what was right there in front of you deeply saddens me.
I would like to take a moment to take the credit for the Colts making it to the Superbowl. Many of you do not know the role that I played in this so I must share or I will never get the glory that I so deserve. I realized that the only time the Colts ever won a really important game was if I didn't watch, so I decided I wouldn't watch one game this entire season and that I wouldn't watch the playoffs. So I didn't until this last game. I just couldn't help myself.
So there I was watching it and I saw it all going down the toilet and I knew what I had to do. I needed to turn the channel to get a win. So that is what I did. Now because of my sacrifice they are off to the SUPERBOWL!!!!
Now I will be watching tomorrow but if things start to take a turn for the worse then I will again turn away and allow them the win.
GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!
Love you guys...
Jen
