Why Mommy and Daddy Are Democrats...Has It Really Come to This?

I ran across two books yesterday. One is called, "Why Mommy is a Democrat." The other is "Why Daddy is a Democrat." I don't even know where to start on this. I'll let you look at some of the pictures. Click on the pictures to see the captions.

I did a little research and discovered the Republicans are quickly responding by creating their own version. So soon, our angry and bitter partisanship can be handed down to our children in dumbed down, under-thought, delightfully illustrated reading material. Forget red and blue states. Let's have red and blue seating charts in the lunch room. We can get rid of the old 1-2 system for separating teams and just put the socially conscious on one side and the tax cutters on the other. Donkey vs Elephant dodgeball!

The books (for both sides) unfortunately provide an accurate snapshot of our current political climate. The majority of Americans digest sound-bytes gleaned from an informant of choice. Someone will win in November. They will have strengths and weaknesses. They will do some good and some not-so-good. God will sovereignly rule over it all.

I'm thankful to live in America. I love our system of government. It is flawed, but I believe it provides one of the best systems for governing in a fallen world. That being said, presidential elections make me thankful to have a King.

This is a great song that helps keep things in perspective. I'll hold commentary. I think the song speaks for itself.

Savior on Capitol Hill by Derek Webb

I’m so tired of these mortal men
with their hands on their wallets and their hearts full of sin
scared of their enemies, scared of their friends
and always running for re-election
so come to DC if it be thy will
because we’ve never had a savior on Capitol Hill

you can always trust the devil or a politician
to be the devil or a politician
but beyond that friends you’d best beware
‘cause at the Pentagon bar they’re an inseparable pair
and as long as the lobbyists are paying their bills
we’ll never have a savior on Capitol Hill

all of our problems gonna disappear
when we can whisper right in that President’s ear
he could walk right across the reflection pool
in his combat boots and ten thousand dollar suit

you can render unto Caesar everything that’s his
you can trust in his power to come to your defense
it’s the way of the world, the way of the gun
it’s the trading of an evil for a lesser one
so don’t hold your breath or your vote until
you think you’ve finally found a savior up on Capitol Hill

I have loved that song since the first time I heard it. Thanks for putting all the lyrics in the post because some of them I couldn't quite understand when listening to the CD. The older I get the less I trust my discernment and ability to judge between all these characters. I always vote, but I'm glad it's God's vote that is the deciding one!

Not to be a jerk...but I think you mean "partisanship." "Bipartisanship" means the two parties are working together.

Yikes.
