Derek Webb lyrics are definitely thought provoking as well as convicting.
I just went to the funeral home for a visitation tonight. A member of my church lost his 37 year old son, Thursday in a car wreck. He left behind 4 boys, ages 6 to 14. It is truly sad and makes you realize that life is very short and the things that we get so caught up in and spend so much time worrying about are often meaningless. I know God is sovereign over all and everything has its purpose, I pray that God's will be done in the midst of this sorrow.
There are only 2 places we can end our life, one is in Christ which results in eternal joy and the 2nd place is being in anything else other than Christ and that leads to eternal torment. There are no 2nd chances, no purgatory, no universal salvation for the "sincere". Our only hope is to trust in the righteousness of another, trust in Jesus Christ alone and his finished work on the cross. If anyone is not, I plead with you to repent, forsake your good deeds and fall on the mercy of Christ and make him Lord of your life.
My friend from church is a farmer and his son that he lost worked with him every day. Please pray for Roger and his wife who have lost a son that they have seen daily for 37 years and their 4 grandsons who have lost their Father this week.
Thanks for sharing the song. All will be made right at some point in time, when Jesus comes back as the Lion of Judah. Come Lord Jesus come, I long for your return, this world is passing away and is not my home.
I mentioned trusting in the finished work of the cross in my first post and I found a quote from AW Pink that is awesome.
"“It is finished.” That to which so many types looked forward, that which so much in the tabernacle and its ritual foreshadowed, that of which so many of God’s prophets had spoken, was now accomplished. A covering from sin and its shame - typified by the coats of skin with which the Lord God clothed our first parents - was now provided. The more excellent sacrifice - typified by Abel’s lamb - had now been offered. A shelter from the storm of divine judgment- typified by the ark of Noah was now furnished. The only-begotten and well-beloved Son - typified by Abraham’s offering up of Isaac - had already been placed upon the altar. A protection from the avenging angel - typified by the shed blood of the Passover lamb was now supplied. A cure from the serpent’s bite -typified by the serpent of brass upon the pole - was now made ready for sinners. The providing of a lifegiving fountain -typified by Moses striking the rock - was now effected." —A. W. Pink (1886–1952)
It is finished, repent, trust that Christ finished it and pick up our cross and follow daily. It is such a simple message, yet such a stumbling block for us, our nature wants to add to it.

Todd.
One of my favorite quotes is a line from this song:
"I join the oppressors of those I choose to ignore."
Todd, thank you for those beautiful comments. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. I'll pray for this family.
Thanks for the prayer for the family, they are going to need it.
