Conversations with Andrew

Someone recently told me this blog has turned into a 'daddy blog.' Oh, well.

Here's the latest installment.

Lying in bed, listening to a story about Abraham believing God's promises for a son even though he was one hundred years old, Andrew looked at me with the sweetest, most faith-filled face and said with conviction, "Daddy, Princess Leia trusted God's promises."

Conversations with the Boys

A couple nights ago Joshua was crying in his bed. I'm still not sure if he was talking in his sleep or having a bad dream. Maybe it was both. Anyway, I went into his room around 2 AM and laid down in his bed. We talked for a few minutes and then I fell asleep.

A few minutes later I woke up to Joshua shouting, "Stop it."

I asked, "Are you okay? Are you having a bad dream?"

He answered, "No, dad. You're snoring."

And here's one for Andrew. Some of you may know I have a horrible gag reflex. I've got friends who deliberately say gross things to me because they know it will make me gag and possibly even throw-up. It can happen with no notice and it's quite a miserable quality. All that to say, I spontaneously gagged and threw-up on a recent trip to the bathroom with Andrew. As I began vomiting, Andrew kept reassuring me, "Dad, there's poo poo coming out of your mouth, but you're being brave." He then went into the dining room where our family was having Thanksgiving dinner and told everyone I had poo poo in my mouth. Later that night he was sitting on the bathroom floor making gagging noises and telling Joshua he was me.

There's never a dull moment with these two, and Pax seems to be trying to more and more like them every day. I'm in trouble.

Heaven Will Not Be Boring

I spent several minutes trying to decide what to name this post. I'm still not sure I went with the best option. I was struck by many things about this video. Mostly, it reminded me of God's grace and truth breaking into our chaotic lives to bring us his peace. A great beginning to the Advent season. Enjoy...
